“Beloved Hymns of Charles Wesley” is a fundraiser for Hay Bay Church on Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m. at Bridge Street United. This historic Hay Bay church built in 1792 is now the oldest Methodist building in Canada. It is the forebear of every United Church in this region and at 227 is in desperate need of some restoration work.  Although no longer an active church it is the property of the United Church of Canada and is a popular historic site, open to tourists from mid-May to October and holding an annual service on the fourth Sunday in August. We are calling on singers from our congregation and other neighbouring churches to help us lead this old fashioned hymn sing. Admission by free-will offering for the Hay Bay Restoration Fund. Email music@bridgestchurch.com for more information.

Choir Practices are on Thursdays.

Bell Ringers’ practice 5:30 – 6:45 p.m – Ring the buzzer at Bridge St. entrance.

Vocal Choir practice – 7 – 8:30 p.m. – Knock on the Sanctuary “ramp” door.

The primary role of our senior vocal choir is to assist congregational singing in regular worship services and to provide musical offerings on behalf of the congregation. Our choir is made up of a wonderful mix of people of varied talents and experiences. This contributes to a rich and diverse group of people who offer their voices in song every week from September through June, frequently singing in four-part harmony.

This choir is not an auditioned choir, and while some choir members read music well, others do not, and learn along the way. There is a rich history of wonderful music making at Bridge Street Church, and anyone who is interested in carrying on in that tradition is most welcome to add their voice to the choir in our regular worship services.

The vocal choir rehearses from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday evening.
