STEEPED IN A RICH TRADITION Bridge Street Church is a living downtown church dating back to 1815.

Bridge Street United Church, a congregation rich in history and tradition, is a Christian family that actively commits to welcoming all persons, to living the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, music, education, outreach and stewardship, and to demonstrating the love of God, the Creator, within the congregation, the community, and the world, as the Spirit leads us.

As part of the United Church of Canada, our church embodies the traditions of the Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregationalist and Evangelical United Brethren Churches. With 400 households under pastoral care, from every quarter of the city and beyond, we remain committed to our motto of being "a Church with a Heart in the Heart of the Village". We offer a traditional worship service, fine music, a fully staffed and equipped nursery, and a vibrant Children's Centre.

We invite you to come to this dynamic growing community to worship with us, and share in our mission to affirm and live the Christian ministry throughout our community, across our nation, and around the world.

When & Where?
Our services take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the main Sanctuary, and at 10:00 a.m. from Victoria Day Weekend through to Labour Day Weekend. We also conduct special evening services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and two services on Christmas Eve (one family oriented and one, a Communion & Carols service).

Children
The children (grades K-8) are in the Sanctuary for the first part of the service. Dr. Smith has a special Children's Time with them, after which they retire to the Sunday Program in the Children's Centre.

For babies and children younger than three, we also have an equipped nursery staffed on both Sunday and Tuesday mornings during our Caregivers and Tots "Morning Break" program.

Easier to See, Hear, and Reach

We have an FM hearing system with both T switch and ear-plug portable receivers. For each service we print a number of large print service orders, and we have a supply of large print hymn books. We also provide wheelchair access via a ramp to both the Sanctuary and the lower level of the building, and have a wheelchair available on both levels. Weekly sermons are posted on this site.

If you need transport to get to church, call Central Taxi [613 962 5353] to be picked up, (and to book a ride home). Tell the dispatcher that the trips are to be charged to us.

Dress
Please come as you wish. Our congregation wears everything from suit and tie to casual. However you dress, you are welcome, and you will feel welcome.
