Sunday School - Children attend the first part of our Morning Worship and, after Children’s Time, move downstairs to our “Children’s Centre” (Sunday School). An age-appropriate, lively curriculum designed to help children truly experience the stories of the bible with games, activities and crafts leads into discussion on how these lessons can be effective guides in their daily lives. A staffed Crib/Toddler Room is located downstairs for children aged newborn to 30 months. Coffee Time in the Sills Auditorium -

Following worship each Sunday, everyone joins together in our auditorium for an opportunity to mix and mingle with old friends and new, while enjoying a cup of coffee, tea or juice. This venue also provides an opportunity for our ministers to visit with you.

See next column under "Outreach News" for details concerning hot, nutritious meals that are served every night of the week during this period, and frozen meals that are availble for pick up daily, if unable to attend during the hot meal times.

Tuesdays

First Tuesday and Wednesday of Each Month (generally)(currently in recess until April)

- TGIF “Cook Off” - from 9:00 a.m.

Nutritious, “church-made”, frozen meals will be prepared on these days for our “TGIF” outreach meal distribution program, which continues every Friday until the middle of January, when our IFTC outreach meal program begins. Call the church office or check our service order folders or website for notices about scheduled cook offs.

Wednesdays

- Breakfast Bible Study - 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Juice, bagels, muffins, cream cheese, and coffee are enjoyed while the weekly lectionary, which is used as the theme for our Sunday church services, is discussed. There are about ten people who regularly attend. All are welcome. Ring the bell at the Bridge Street entrance. Contact: Audrey Cowan, 613-968-5432.

Thursdays

- Bell Choir Practices - Sanctuary - 6 p.m.

- Senior Vocal Choir Practices - Sanctuary - 7:30 p.m.

- BSC Book Lovers’ Club - (2nd Thurs. of each month) from 9:00 a.m.

Everyone who enjoys reading and informally discussing stories and books is invited to Book Lovers’ meetings, which are held in the Wilson Parlour on the second Thursday of each month. Fridays

- Stuff ‘n Chatter – Bulletin Collation - from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This work bee provides an opportunity to help (“many hands make light work”) as well as an opportunity to visit on a weekly basis. After the week’s Orders of Service are collated and folded , everyone enjoys coffee and a sweet!

Fridays

- TGIF Meal Distribution - from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (See TGIF Cook OffNotice,above). Pick up a church-prepared, frozen meal for your dinner each Friday (excluding mid-Jan to end of Feb., while Inn from the Cold is operating, and July and August).

To help volunteer for meal distribution here at the church, contact the church office to complete a Registration form.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LIFE AND WORK OF BRIDGE STREET CHURCH

The New Bridge Street Church United Church Women - Last May, UCW members met and agreed that the three UCW Units (Lunch Bunch, Afternoon and Centennial) would amalgamate to form one UCW group as of September 1, 2011. You're invited to read the UCW bulletin board for up-to-date information, as well as some information about some of our recently-held activities.

Special Music Events - As Posted - The Music Committee of the Worship & Membership Division organizes special music events throughout the year.

Meals on Wheels Delivery - UCW members, as well as many people from the Congregation-at-large, volunteer their time to deliver "Meals-On-Wheels" on Thursdays in January and July. For more info. contact Audrey Cowan 613-968-5432.

“TGIF” – (Currently in recess - "Inn from the Cold" Meal Program now operating - see below)

Pick up Friday night’s dinner at our 60 Bridge St. East entrance. Nutritious, frozen meals that have been prepared by our volunteers, here at the church, are distributed Fridays (excluding July and August and while IFTC is running) from 2 to 4 p.m. To register, show ID for participating family members on your first visit only. These meals are available to anyone and there is no cost involved.

"Inn from the Cold" (middle of January to end of February) - (See current info. - right hand column under "Outreach News"). Volunteers prepare and serve nutritious, hot meals every night of the week to help those who may find the winter months a difficult time to “make ends meet”, and to provide a warm place for those who are looking for fellowship. Funded by individual and group donations.. To volunteer for this program (greeter/security; kitchen prep and dishwashing; meal serving, etc.) complete a Volunteer Application form, available in church office.

A Little Taste of Heaven” – BSC Cookbook - Only $15 each! Available in church office, Tuesday to Friday, 9 to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

PRAYER MINISTRY: We often receive prayer requests from members of the congregation to hold them or their loved ones up during our Sunday morning worship. In order to allow this to happen, we encourage you to phone into the office any prayer requests, e-mail them, or write them on the “Prayer Requests” pad, which will be located at the rear of the sanctuary.

Paul writes, “We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.”

CURRENT BRIDGE STREET NEWS & ACTIVITIES -

- Installation of 2012 Congregational Board – Sunday, February 5, 10:30 a.m. 2012. Congregational Board members are encouraged to attend this installation and introduction to the congregation.

MUSIC NEWS –

- Invitation to Participate in the Bridge Street Ringers – If you are interested in ringing, or if you know of anyone in the Bridge Street community, or further afield, who is interested in ringing, please join us each for practices each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.

- Music at Bridge Street Church Presents – “Spirituals” – a workshop and worship event – Saturday, March 3 – an historical examination of spirituals and their use in contemporary church contexts – massed choir singing of contemporary arrangements of spirituals – a worship experience combining readings and the singing of the works learned through the afternoon. Registration is available for those wishing to attend the workshop (dinner is included with registration). WORSHIP AT 7 P.M. IS OPEN TO EVERYONE. OUTREACH NEWS -

- Inn from the Cold (IFTC)(Mon. Jan. 16 to Sun., Feb. 26, inclusive) This BSC community outreach program provides a nutritious, three-course meal every night of the week during this six-week period from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m., coffee/tea/soup is served from 4:30 p.m. With the help of over 140 volunteers and many donations, this program offers warm, nutritious meals and a warm place for those who are looking for fellowship and an opportunity to help “make ends meet” during the coldest time of the year. If unable to visit between 4:30 and 6:30, participants must call each Monday morning to pre-order frozen meals (613-962-9178 and ask for the “kitchen”), which is to be picked up daily between 2 and 4 p.m. These pre-ordered meals are distributed daily from our Bridge St. E. foyer, and I.D. must be presented for everyone in your household wishing a meal.

Registration is not required for those who wish to join us here at the church for dinner.

- We’ll keep you in stitches! - Join the Knitters United as we meet in the Sills Auditorium from 3:00 to 4:30, Saturday, January 21 to Saturday, February 25, to knit mitts and hats for our IFTC guests and for local school children. Come regularly or when you can. We can provide patterns, yarn, and needles. We always need donated yarn, which you may bring to the church office or to the Knitting Nimrod. Those who wish to knit at home are invited to drop of finished products at the church office. BRIDGE STREET UNITED CHURCH WOMEN NEWS –

•UCW Potluck Luncheon and Annual General Meeting – Thurs., Feb. 2 at noon, Sills Auditorium. Tea will be supplied. Please bring your dishes and cutlery. Thank you.

BSC FOUNDATION NEWS -

Grants Approved, Fall 2011 – Grants recommended by the Grants Committee for the Fall 2011 round, and approved by the Board of Directors on October 25 are posted in the Sills Auditorium.

The Bridge Street United Church Foundation was established in 1973 to administer the funds left to the church by the late Charlotte Sills. Twice each year, applications are received and reviewed for grants in the National/International and Local Outreach categories. For more information, contact the Foundation's Admin. CONGREGATIONAL BOARD NEWS –

- Installation of 2012 Congregational Board - Sun., Feb. 5 during worship service.

Warm Used Clothing Distribution – We are now accepting donations of warm clothing (from Bridge St. Church members and adherents only, as we aren't able to manage more donatoins than this) for distribution to guests of our Inn from the Cold outreach meal program. You are asked to take your donations directly to the coat rack/large box that has been placed outside Rob’s store room (Northeast corner of the Sills Auditorium).

COMMUNITY EVENTS –

•Salvation Army “Warm Room” now operating each night (including holidays and weekends) until March 15, 2012. Everyone is welcome to stop in from 6 to 10 p.m. for a hot meal, a place to keep warm, and fellowship for the evening. 295 Pinnacle St., Belleville.

“Assisted Lift” - Two people at a time may accompany our “Lift Operator” down to the Sills Auditorium. We encourage its use by those who would benefit from a “lift” downstairs.

Large Print Service Folders, Large Print Hymn Books and an FM Hearing System are available at the back of the Sanctuary. See one of the Ushers for assistance.

If you require printed hymns, larger than what is provided in our Large Print Hymn books, please call the church office, and a set of hymns will be provided for your use each week.

Pew cushions are available for your use on a “first come, first served” basis. They are stacked on each end of the back pews for pick up on your way in. Please return them to this same location on your way out.

Washroom facilities are located at the back of the church, just off the Narthex, near the north entrance.

Bridge St. Church seeks to be “scent free”. Please refrain from wearing colognes, perfumed lotions and hair products, and scented after shave products.
