AT BRIDGE STREET CHURCH, MUSIC IS INTEGRAL TO OUR WORSHIP EXPERIENCE AND TO OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH.
We are pleased to welcome Terry Head as our Director of Music.
Terry has been a music director at various churches for over 17 years and is very happy to be beginning his tenure with Bridge Street United Church. He believes that music is an integral part of worship and is at the heart of what he enjoys doing most. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in piano performance from the University of Western Ontario, and A.R.C.T. diplomas in both performing and teaching disciplines. He has also completed post-graduate work at the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Artist-Teacher Diploma Program at the Glenn Gould Professional School. Terry is currently completing the Master of Sacred Music degree at Emmanuel College and the University of Toronto. Studies in this program include both theological and musical performance courses including organ study with Patricia Wright at Metropolitan United Church in Toronto. As a well-rounded musician with many different musical interests, Terry explores a variety of musical styles. Apart from his duties at Bridge Street Church, and finishing his degree, Terry also maintains an active teaching studio in his home, working with students of all ages, including the training of new teachers and teaching advanced theoretical subjects.
Having had the experience of exploring a vast repertoire of traditional and contemporary sacred music, as well as ringing handbells as part of Bronze Reflections Quintet and Double Bronze Duo, the opportunity to now share this experience with the Bridge Street Choir and the Bridge Street Ringers is certainly a great joy for him.
