2019 Concert Series

In April, Andre Knevel (organ) and Liselotte Rokyta (pan flute) headlined the “Spring Celebration Concert” – the first in a series of seven concerts planned for 2019 at the historic Bridge Street United Church known for its superb acoustics and massive Casavant organ.  Subsequent programs include two in June:   David Shewchuck, violinist, and Mitchell Cox, pianist, in “It Takes Two to Tango”, then on June 2nd at 2 p.m., Command Performance Choir will be performing “Sweet Nostalgia – Songs from our LP’s.  (See below for more details about these two, June concerts).  The Toronto Men’s Welsh Choir will perform September 29; the soprano and organ duo of Valerie Hall and Kerry-Anne Kutz on October 20, and organist, Murray Baer, will be reprising his Popular Hits concert in November.  The series ends with Bridge St. United’s Christmas Concert and Singalong, December 22.

    • Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. – “It Takes Two to Tango” – duo concert by Mitchell Cox on piano and David Shewchuck on violinIn what we hope will be a terrific future, Mitchell and David have started a piano and violin duo. Mitchell is Music Director at Bridge St. United Church, and David is, among other things, concertmaster of the Quinte Symphony and has studied with several of the truly great violinists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Both musicians are known for their versatility in playing various musical styles in various venues around the world.  About half the concert will be tangos, with the other works a variety of violin and piano solos.  Included, also, will be what is rarely seen: improvised duo playing!  This is sure to be a fun, entertaining evening.  Tickets are $25 each or 2 for $40 and are available in the church office, at the door and on davidshewchuk.com.  10% of proceeds going to Quinte Symphony Orchestra.
    • Sunday, June 2, 2 p.m. – Command Performance Choir – Prince Edward Co.’s Community Choir, will be performing beautiful, lively, and heartfelt choral arrangements of hit songs from the golden age of Rock and Roll. Featuring hits from Paul Simon, Lennon and McCartney, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchel, Carole King, to name just a few, this concert will be a toe-tapping, seat-bopping, wonderful afternoon of great tunes.  Don’t miss this event in the Bridge Street Church sanctuary!  A great way to support the Music Outreach at our Church.
